Symposium Aim

The symposium investigates contemporary technological transformations within the broader context of human flourishing, consciousness, relationality, and collective well-being. By bridging the gap between cutting-edge technological innovation and foundational disciplines—including contemplative traditions, psychology, philosophy, education, and the humanities—this event fosters critical dialogue on how we can navigate emerging times while anchoring ourselves in shared human values.

Symposium Venue:
Tsz Shan Monastery

The Kindfulness Symposium will take place at the scenic and serene Tsz Shan Monastery, a significant project of the Li Ka Shing Foundation, renowned as one of Hong Kong's hidden gems. With the great support of Mr. Li Ka Shing, the Monastery was officially opened to the public in 2015 and has since welcomed over three million visitors and practitioners from around the world. In addition to regular ritual ceremonies, the Monastery also offers mindfulness experiences to visitors such as water offering, sutra copying and forest therapy, providing ways for the general public to cultivate inner tranquility and equanimity. Subsequently, Tsz Shan Monastery Buddhist Art Museum was opened in 2019, where visitors can travel through time and space on a journey with over 140 stunning pieces of transnational Buddhist art.

Tsz Shan Institute

Tsz Shan Institute, the research and spiritual educational division of the Monastery, was established in 2016. Over the years, the institute endeavors to bridge the gap between theory and practice, and aims to provide systematic and comprehensive Dharma education to people of all ages and backgrounds; dedicated to responding to the spiritual needs of society and promoting positive psychology and compassion through various courses, experiential programmes, retreats, youth empowerment initiatives, community outreach, and research projects. Throughout these years, we have been collaborating with universities including UC Berkeley, the University of Chicago, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, The Education University of Hong Kong and Lingnan University, etc.
